I am writing to express my appreciation for your Gravity Forms OpenAI plugin. It has been instrumental in my Gravity Forms-based course, which teaches users to craft more persuasive unique selling propositions. The course operates by having users submit their initial drafts through a multi-step form, with ChatGPT providing text suggestions to aid in the development of their final drafts.
Despite the overall positive experience, there is a notable area where improvement could be beneficial. The API call can take up to 30 seconds to process, which might lead users to suspect a technical glitch. While I am partly addressing this concern through mentioning the wait time in an instructional videos, a more conspicuous visual cue during the processing time would be immensely helpful.
The current spinner indicators, located next to the NEXT button, are somewhat inconspicuous and easily overlooked. Although Gravity Forms provides a filter to modify the Ajax spinner, I have yet to discover a straightforward method for implementing a full-page visualization. Ideally, this would involve blurring the entire page during a wait time when the API is accessed and displaying a prominent spinner, possibly accompanied by some explanatory text in the center.
In addition, I’ve noticed an odd occurrence whereby a second blue spinner appears when hovering over the NEXT button, even before the button has been clicked and though the page appears to be fully loaded. I am unsure as to why this happens, and any insight you could provide would be appreciated.
Hi Marc,
I replied to your email about this with more details, but you can do this with the following filter:
https://docs.gravityforms.com/gform_spinner_target_elem/
Basically, it would work like this:
div
element to act as the overlay.div
element has an overlay behavior.I’ll be waiting to see this recording as well. Very interesting product.
Hi Adam,
The recording will be available in our next Weekly, which will be sent out next week Friday. You can also subscribe to our Youtube Channel to see it immediately after it’s uploaded.
