Spotlight: Racing to Recovery with Turbo Titans
See how Ben Horle’s tremendous personal challenges led to a breakthrough business idea centered around his family, community, and Gravity Perks.
Our spotlight series focuses on exciting things our customers create using our products. This week, weβre doing things differently.
Ben Horle, a longtime customer, shared an incredible personal journey with us. A story that combines deep hardship with big wins and heart-warming joy in between. Above all, itβs a story about a Gravity Wiz customer, and something we think our customers will relate to.
Itβs also a request: Ben is looking to lift off a new Gravity-Forms-powered venture into orbit and needs our help. More on that below, and check out Ben’s overview of his new venture (and Gravity-Forms-powered donation form) here:
Meet Ben Horle, Founder of Turbo Titans
Ben Horle is the founder of Turbo Titans, a pop-up remote control racing experience built to bring families together, help kids rediscover real-world fun, and inject fresh energy into local communities. Think remote control cars, inflatable race tracks, and big smiles all βround.
Turbo Titans isnβt just about racing. Itβs about reclaiming time and connection β something born from a series of unfortunate events that turned Benβs life temporarily upside down.
Catering and a Health Crisis
Before Turbo Titans β for years β Ben ran a successful catering company, until a carbon monoxide leak during a routine cooking session changed his life.
I was doing what I loved when it hit me. Confusion, dizziness, nausea. Some days I couldnβt function. Iβd be in bed for sixteen hours, barely able to think. I wonβt go into every symptom, but it was deeply frightening.
Eventually, Ben found hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Slowly, his cognitive function began to return. But the experience forced him to reevaluate everything: his health, his work, and most of all, how he was spending time with his kids.
Support in the Form of⦠Forms
In the midst of recovery, Ben started looking for ways to work again.
I reached out to Scott at Gravity Wiz looking for a way to build a future I could manage with my new limitations. The Gravity Wiz teamβs kindness was a lifeline at a truly dark time. They didnβt just give me technical support β they gave me social connection when I felt isolated. Honestly, it felt like I had my own development team cheering me on.
Using Gravity Forms, Ben began building digital tools for the catering industry in hopes that they might be of use upon his return to work β quote calculators, job onboarding systems, KPI trackers, PDF generators, and Kitchen management systems. They worked well. So well, he estimates those tools couldβve βsaved over Β£80,000 in laborβ in his previous catering business.
Then Ben’s employer let him go after nearly a year had passed without him being able to work. And later on, the stress of everything got to his wife, who left and announced that she wanted a divorce.
He tried selling what he had built but the truth was, selling websites wasnβt lighting Ben up. βI wanted to do something fun β something that helped me reclaim lost time with my kids.β
The Birth of Turbo Titans
Benβs idea came on a quiet day at the lake.
I remembered the day I bought my son a remote control boat. I couldnβt run with him β but I could sit there and cheer him on. The joy on his face was everything.
That memory became the foundation for Turbo Titans, the pop-up RC racing business that started with zero budget, a lot of heart, and a wizardβs vision.
Ben asked a shopkeeper (RCScrapyard East Sussex) what it would take to buy 20 RC cars and host small racing events. The answer? Surprisingly doable. The opportunity? Too good to pass up.
I was fed up with being too unwell to take my kids out, then on the days I was strong enough there just didnβt seem to be anything affordable.
With no real budget β just heart β I began building.
Turbocharged with Gravity Perks
To bring his vision to life, Ben leaned heavily on Gravity Forms and Gravity Perks. He built:
- A custom ticketing and registration system
- Event check-ins for smooth on-site operations
- Affiliate QR codes so local shops could sell tickets and earn commission
- Scalable backend systems that made a tiny team feel like a polished company
- A donation form enhanced with conditional logic
It may have started small, but I built it with big business in mind. When your systems are stronger than you are, it instills confidence.
Ben also mentioned our good friends at Gravity PDF saying, “Jake [CEO], his team, and their products have been so helpful throughout this process.”
Whatβs Brewing for Turbo Titans
Turbo Titans isβ¦ picking up speed. Heβs aiming to bring Turbo Titans to:
- CarFest, Silverstone, and Brands Hatch
- Birthday parties (including βMan-Childβ editions for grown-ups)
- After-school clubs that promote focus, social skills, and real-world play
Heβs also working on a mobile inflatable racing arena that can travel to schools, festivals, and underserved communities β and heβs launched a fundraiser to help make it happen.
But Ben could use some help. To make it to CarFest, one of his inaugural business debuts, he needs to cover costs.
Help Turbo Titans Make it to CarFest!
As Iβm sure you can tell by now β this isnβt our typical spotlight. But Benβs vision has heart, and heβs genuinely looking to give back to his community. As wizards, we love to see that.
Ben’s offering multiple donation rewards, including:
- A certificate of support
- A personalized “Thank You” video shout-out
- Laser-cut medallions
- A founders bundle
- The ability to book a Turbo Titans party
- A 12 month sponsorship package
To make it meaningful, Iβm planning to laser-cut pieces of the original ramps into medallions β small keepsakes for donors. Each one a symbol of joy, struggle, and forward motion.
As I’m sure you could have guessed, Ben’s donation form takes serious advantage of Gravity Perks. It includes GP Address Autocomplete, GP Copy Cat, GP Entry Blocks, and more.

Want to help support Ben on his journey?
βI would like help getting to CarFest this year to stake out the venue with my two sons and a friend as backup should my health let me down, I will then be able to research what size pitch would be suitable and make plans to bring Turbo Titans there for 2026.β

You’re welcome.
As the βshopkeeperβ named in this article, I am delighted that Ben has got this off the ground and will continue to offer him all the support necessary with advice, Spares and technical support as required.
