Gravity Forms 2.9: It’s here!

Gravity Forms 2.9 has arrived in style with two new field types and a more polished look in the form editor. Here’s the tea on the Gravity Forms team’s latest release.

  • The new Multiple Choice field gives you greater control over how many choices can be selected and dynamically changes the input type (checkbox vs radio button) accordingly.
  • The new Image Choice field works just like the Multiple Choice field but adds the eye-catching ability to include images for each option!
  • The Orbital form theme is now automatically applied in the form editor and it makes the editing experience even more visually satisfying.
  • Lastly, the Gravity Forms team continues to honor their commitment to accessibility with a host of improvements in the form editor for keyboard navigation and screen readers.

2.9 is currently being released with a staggered rollout but if you’re eager to jump the queue, you can always download it from your Gravity Forms account.

Important: GP Nested Forms, GC Notion, and Cache Buster all received 2.9 compatibility updates this week. Be sure to upgrade post haste.

Advanced Save & Continue: Fallback Message

Advance your Gravity Forms Save & Continue functionality with auto-saving, auto-loading, and draft management.

The [gpasc_drafts] shortcode received a new parameter this week. By default, if no drafts exists, the shortcode returns an empty string. But what if you wanted to show a message instead, like “Sorry, no drafts found.” or “No pending applications.”?

The new fallback_message shortcode lets you add whatever message you want to display if no drafts are found.

[gpasc_drafts fallback_message="No drafts found."]

Community Spotlight: Email Customizer

Transform your Gravity Forms email notifications into sleek, branded messages with Email Customizer for Gravity Forms. This plugin lets you craft beautiful email templates powered by the Block Editor. Add logos, tweak colors, insert custom HTML, and personalize with entry data.

Bonus: Email Customizer recently added support for our GP Email Users perk! This means you can cook up a delicious notification email template with Email Customizer and then select that template to be used when when sending emails via Email Users. πŸ™Œ

New Snippet: Disable Form Submission

If you’re building calculators with GP Advanced Calculations or AI tools with GC OpenAI, you may want to use the form as purely interactive tool rather than a way to collect leads.

There are a number of ways to prevent form submissions but if you want to be absolutely sure the form can’t be submitted (and the submit button is completely hidden), this snippet is easy and bulletproof.

Does the new Image Choices feature end the need for JetSloth’s plugin? I’m curious how these two will compare…
