GP Limit Choices Deprecation: Frequently Asked Questions

GP Limit Choices is being deprecated, but fear not: GP Inventory has complete feature parity with GP Limit Choices (and can do even more). Here’s what you need to know.

🔄 General Deprecation Questions

Why is GP Limit Choices being deprecated?

GP Limit Choices is being deprecated because GP Inventory is its superior in every way.

GP Inventory handles both simple inventory and choice-based inventory (such as limiting choices). It also allows inventory to be shared across forms and fields, as well as scoped based on user selections on the current form. These advanced features were only possible with custom code in GP Limit Choices and lacked any UI support. Learn more about using GP Inventory to limit choices here.

What is the timeline for deprecation?

GP Limit Choices has been deprecated effective immediately. While it will continue to function indefinitely, no new features will be added. If you encounter a bug, we may request that you migrate to GP Inventory, although we will continue to address security issues.

GP Limit Choices will be officially sunset on May 2nd, 2026. After this date, it will no longer be available for installation and will not receive further updates. We strongly recommend migrating to GP Inventory as soon as possible.

Will I still receive support for GP Limit Choices during the next year?

Yes, we will continue to support GP Limit Choices until it is sunset. Security vulnerabilities will be patched, and bug fixes will be handled at our discretion.

What happens if I do nothing?

Your forms will continue to function as the code is not changing. However, future versions of WordPress, Gravity Forms, or possibly a Gravity Forms community plugin may introduce breaking changes. It’s important to note that after GP Limit Choices reaches its end-of-life date, no further security patches will be provided. For this reason, we recommend migrating to GP Inventory at your earliest convenience.

💰 Licensing and Cost

Do I need to purchase a new license to use GP Inventory?

No, you don’t. If you’re on a Basic or Advanced license, that means you now have a free perk registration available for GP Inventory.

Are there any price changes associated with this transition?

No, this transition does not affect your license pricing in any way.

🚀 New Features and Advantages

Will GP Inventory receive new features that GP Limit Choices won’t?

Absolutely. We just released GP Inventory 1.0, which introduces an inventory dashboard and an inventory shortcode that allows you to display inventory data anywhere it’s needed. Even more features are planned for future releases, so stay tuned!
