Gravity Forms QR Code turns 1.0 π
Better manage events, inventory, discounts and more. With 1.0, QR Code is more stable than ever before.
Fun fact: QR codes have been around for nearly 30 years.
It wasnβt until the pandemic that we saw them blow up. And yes, youβve probably seen hundreds by now. But I mean, think about it. Scan one image to instantly check yourself in, apply a discount, pull up a menu, or populate a Gravity Forms field out of thin air? Itβs amazing. And kind of feels likeβ¦
β¦
Donβt say it.
β¦
β¦magic?
Haha, sorry, I just couldnβt resist. π
Gravity Forms QR Code 1.0 is here!
This past summer, (winter for you folks in the southern hemisphere) we introduced you to Gravity Forms QR Code, our own portal between the physical and digital world.Β
QR Code provides an easy means for generating QR codes from Gravity Forms fields, and scanning QR codes to insert values into fields. Turn any Gravity Forms field into a scannable code β and output QR codes in confirmations, notifications, or anywhere else merge tags are supported.
Today, QR Code gets its 1.0 credentials.
What does 1.0 mean?
Weβve been optimizing the QR codex around use cases like event check-in, inventory management, coupon codes, connecting different devices, and member registration. We added 30 new barcode formats, and more customizability for your formats of choice (check out an interactive demo).
1.0 means our consistent QR QA has paid off. GP QR Code is more stable and reliable than ever before.
What can you do with QR Code?
Here are some common applications:
Sell tickets to events, check-in attendees. Generate QR codes for each ticket, and add them to confirmations. Staff can scan QR codes into a check-in form as attendees arrive.
Generate scannable coupon codes and discount links. Allow customers to scan QR codes at checkout and automatically apply a coupon β or scan a QR code that takes customers to a special checkout link with a discount already applied.
Simplify inventory management. Create QR codes for product SKUs. Staff can scan a QR code to interact with that product on their product management form. Quickly handle returns, surplus inventory, product recalls, or restock requests.

QR Code 1.0 is available in your WordPress admin (via the Perks page) or by download in your Gravity Wiz account.

how to display qr code in entrie ?
Hi Haziq,
It’s currently not possible to display the QR Code on the Entries page. If you have a specific use case for this, you can submit this with additional information of your use case via our support form, so we can forward this to our product manager as a feature request.
Best,
Can a QR code contain details for more than one session within a multi day event?
For example the event attendee needs to pre-register for each session they will attend, lets say there are sessions A,B,C,D,E and F.
They book to attend Sessions A,B & C – Can the QR code allow them to be checked into Sessions A,B & C, but if they try to check into Sessions D,E or F it will say they aren’t registered?
Hi Sean,
This isn’t possible with just the GP QR Code perk, but you can have a working solution, using our GP Nested Forms and the GP Unique ID Perks. You’ll use the Nested Forms to allow users register for the different sessions they are attending and then generate a unique ID for each session. You can then use the QR Code Perk, to generate multi QR codes based on the Unique IDs, one for each session registered. If this solution will work for you, and you need help setting it up, contact us via our support form and we’ll be glad to assist you.
Best,
Hello. Is it possible to send QR codes to mailchimp or something similar? We want to use a nice email template to send QR codes and info. The gravity forms notifications editor is very limited. Thanks!
Hi Luis,
Yes, that should be possible. You can insert the QR code merge tag as the default value of a Hidden field and pass it to MailChimp.
Best,
Can QR-Code be printed in Gravity PDFs?
Hi Marius,
Yes, you should be able to display QR codes in Gravity PDF, GravityView, Preview Submission or anywhere else that merge tags (or shortcodes) can be displayed.
Best,
Can QR codes be sent via sms notifications via Twilio?
QR Codes can be sent via email notifications, but it’s impossible to insert a QR Code in an SMS.
Best,
