How to Catch Email Typos with Instant Suggestions in Gravity Forms
Make email fields smarter with on-the-fly typo detection and suggestions.

If an email has a typo in it, it’s not actually someone’s email—it’s considered an “invalid email.” Any mail sent to it is just going to a dark void, never to be seen again while potentially negatively impacting your email reputation.
Email verification in itself is effective at stopping typoed emails from being submitted to your forms, protecting your lists from invalid emails upon submission and giving out an “invalid email” error. GP Email Validator brings that magic to Gravity Forms via two integrations: Kickbox and ZeroBounce.
But if you want to bump that UX up a notch and help users by:
- Catching common typos right after they enter their email
- Offering an instant click-to-fix suggestion
Email Validator’s integration with Kickbox makes the experience feel a lot more responsive with its “Did you mean?” feature.

What’s more, setting it up is about as easy as fixing that typo was. Let me show you. 🧙

Enabling Email Typo Detection
To enable this feature, you’ll need GP Email Validator and a Kickbox account.
Install Email Validator through Spellbook and generate a Kickbox API key. I always like to start out with a Sandbox key to not use my tokens for testing, plus it’s easy to change to a live key once the setup is complete.

Third, head over to your Gravity Forms Settings and click on Email Validator. Select Kickbox as the Validator Service and choose the Mode that matches your API key, which you can paste in the API key field.
Finally, enable Email Suggestions by checking “Show ‘Did you mean?’ suggestions for misspelled emails.” That’s it!
You can run tests and tweak the design using Kickbox’s simulation emails. Once you’re ready to move onto a Live key, just go back to these same settings, change the Mode to Live, and update your key.
You’re all set!
But there is always more to learn—for example, here are other benefits from this Email Validator and Kickbox integration.
