GWW 324: Going the Distance

Address Autocomplete 2.0 now measures the distance and drive time between two addresses. Plus, capacity-aware booking minimums and a full-page spinner glow-up.

Greetings, wizards!

In honor of this week’s big release, I drafted this edition on loop with Cake’s Going the Distance. Hit play and read along — it’s a vibe. (I strongly considered Go the Distance from Hercules, but Cake had the vehicular energy this one called for.)

Wizards, start your engines! 🏁

Go the Distance: GP Address Autocomplete 2.0

For five years, Address Autocomplete has taken the pain out of typing an address. Now it does the math on what’s between them. The new Travel Estimate field measures distance and drive time using Google’s Routes API, and the Map field can draw the route from origin to destination — all powered by Google’s new Places API.

Drop those estimates straight into your calculations, conditional logic, and merge tags, and suddenly a lot of “how would I even build that” forms get easy: delivery fees by distance, mileage reimbursements, travel-time quotes, service pricing that scales with the drive. Not bad for a field that used to just autofill your street. 😏

Top Picks: Product Updates

GP Bookings
Turn Gravity Forms into your complete WordPress booking platform.

The new “Allow Resource Rescheduling” setting lets you keep customers on the same resource when they move a booking, so a reschedule changes the when without changing the who or what.

GP Inventory
Easy, flexible inventory management for Gravity Forms.

Put your remaining stock to work with the new :inventory merge tag modifier. Show a field’s available inventory anywhere you use merge tags — and pull it right into your calculation formulas for pricing, limits, and logic that reacts to what’s actually left.

GP Placeholders
Um, placeholders for List fields, I guess?

Back when Gravity Forms added native placeholder support, we deprecated this perk — but plenty of you still lean on it for List field placeholders, which core still doesn’t cover. GF 3.0 introduced a breaking change, and while the perk is technically deprecated, we had to show up for you hardcore List field users. 😂

Community Highlight: Advanced Permissions Meets Entry Blocks

Our friends at CosmicGiant shipped Advanced Permissions 4.0, and the headline for Entry Blocks fans is simple: your permission rules now follow your entries onto the front end. Entry Permissions filter which entries show up in Entries blocks, and Form Permissions govern who can edit or delete them — no reconfiguring required, since existing rulesets apply automatically.

It’s a big release beyond that too, extending enforcement across GravityView, the Gravity Forms REST API, and even AI agents via MCP. This plugin is absolutely living up to its name!

Updated: Full Page Spinner on Submission

The long arm of Gravity Forms 3.0 reached one of our most popular resources — so we gave it a tune-up.

The full-page spinner drops a clean overlay and animated spinner over the whole screen the moment someone submits, turning that awkward “did it work?” pause into instant, unmissable feedback. It’s especially handy on forms with file uploads or heavier server-side processing.

Grab the updated snippet and CSS, tweak the colors to match your brand, and you’re done.

Sorcerous Snippets

We add new snippets (and updates) to our Snippet Library every week — ready-made solutions that often beat prompting AI, or give you a solid head start on your next vibe-coded build.

GP Bookings | Minimum Quantity by Remaining Capacity — Require a minimum booking quantity while a slot still has plenty of room, then ease off automatically as it fills up — great for pushing bigger group bookings early without blocking that last single seat.

GP Sliders | Minimum Submission Value — Enforce a hard minimum on a slider without touching its visual range. For example, a slider can run from 1% to 10% while rejecting anything under 2% — which also stops an untouched slider (sitting at its 1% default) from slipping through.

GP Read Only | Read Only on Edit — Keep fields locked when editing an entry, not just when viewing it.

What changed: Read Only now extends to the native Gravity Forms Entries edit screen — not only Entry Blocks, GravityView, and Gravity Flow. Flip on a single setting when you want those edit-screen fields locked down too.
